Facts You Did not Know about Tea

There are three basic types of Asian tea; Green, Black and Oolong. All three come from the same tea plant Camelia sinensis. The differences between the teas result from the way the tea leaves are plucked and processed.

Although there are 3 basic kinds of tea, there are more than 3,000 varieties to pick from. Despite their title, herbal teas aren't tea at all since they don't come from the tea plant, but from herb and spice plants.

In recent research studies it was found that men who drink black tea which contains catechins are fifty percent less likely to die from coronary heart disease. This happens when our arteries become clogged and are unable to function as they should due to these getting narrow.

We know that drinking a half to two cups of tea daily can promote fertility by preventing abnormalities in our chromosomes. In a recent evaluation 250 girls drank as little as half a cup of tea daily and their pregnancy rates were twice those who didn't.

A treatment for puffy eyes would be to lie in a flat position and put either a tea compress or wet teabag over both eyes and leave for around 20 minutes. The puffiness around the eyes will incredibly vanish and your eyes will look and feel brand new.

One way to rid your fridge of unpleasant smells is to put one or two used tea bags somewhere inside the refrigerator.

The following day any bad smell will be gone!

A chemical called Tannic acid that naturally occurs in tea is supposed to assist in the struggle against warts. Apply a wet tea bag to the infected area for approximately 15 minutes three times daily and the wart will gradually start to shrink until it finally disappears.

The costliest teabag ever was made for the 75'th anniversary of the PG TIPS tea company. The bag was full of two hundred and eighty diamonds and expensive limited edition tea leaves. The tea bag price 7,500 pounds and could be auctioned in aid of a Children's hospital in Great Britain.

Unlike what one might expect, Turkey is a land of tea drinkers. Turks drink more tea per head than any other country, even more than the British and they're currently the world's largest tea drinkers. The total yearly consumption of tea in Turkey is approximately 120 million tons whereas that of java is just 8 million tons.
